Chessington gig

On Saturday we did the first gig of our 'Stu and Lou tour' (with Lou Fellingham). We were delighted it was sold out (over 900 people), and are really grateful to the folks at Chessington for their organisation, their vision and their wonderful hospitality.

The style of the evening (mainly performance with some opportunities to join in) is different to what I've done before, and might have surprised a few people, but we did want it to be something that was musically more interesting, and also accessible to guests and unchurched people. And the feedback we got from people was really positive - folks seemed to enjoy hearing new and familiar songs accompanied by more thoughtful and varied arrangements!

If you came along, thanks so much for coming - please tell us what you thought by leaving a comment on this site If you missed it, check out the other dates (listed below), and come along to see us. Next stop Swindon on Saturday!

hi just wanted to say i really loved yours and lous music it was so good and my daughter really enjoyed it at your kings centre concert.your music really inspired me and when u talked about being broken it really spoke volumes to me ,thanks for signing the cd for me and my daughter it was nice of you .god bless you and lou you are both very talanted singers good luck in your other concerts from julie in chessington.

hello.
just to say thank you for not only what you sang, but what you said at the concert, it was great to hear some of the ideas behind your songs. God has really given you a gift with songwriting, and it was great to share in thanksgiving of Him with you, lou and the band. you will all be in our prayers as you continue the tour, that you will be blessed and be a blessing.to Him belongs eternal praise!

Thank you for saturday - it was a really special night - you bless so many people with your music - thanks to you both. I draw so much from your music. in fact am listening on my MP3 player at work and it really provides respite from the chaos of the day and helps me to remember some wonderful truths

Dear Stuart,

Just a quick note to say thank you for the excellent feast of music and worship you, Louise and the band provided on Saturday night at the Kings Centre. We enjoyed the previous years immensely which is why we decided to make the trip again this year. If anything the concert this year was even better than last years, particularly the second half.

It was very helpful to have the words on the overhead for those not so familiar with your songs.

I was very moved by some of her song lyrics. We kind of expect it from you nowadays but it was excellent to see what Louise and Nathan are producing with growing regularity. I did speak briefly to her afterward to say that but she was a bit inundated with autograph hunters to perhaps take it in, so please say again for me what a blessing she is/was on Saturday.

You are all such a blessing to the people of God and perhaps only fully, in eternity, will you know just how much. As we are part of NF I’m sure it will not be too long before we see you guys again.

God Bless.

Nick Mudge

Hey stuart,

it was great to hear you, Lou and the band perform at the Kings Center.

It was a real blessing to see you lot perform an act of worship to our Lord.

God bless you as you lot serve the Lord at the rest of the concerts,

Daniel Brett.

I'm a huge fan of your old hymns and those in your 'traditional' style, and those such as "Arise and bless your maker", "All my days", "From the squalor" and "See what a morning" are my favourites! (It was nice to see the last of that list in the second half of the concert)
Because of your high standards in hymn writing, I (painfully) have to say I was disappointed with your new material.
I would love to see more of the 'modern hymns' that congregations have grown to love. One such recent modern hymn 'O Church Arise' has great scriptural depth (and I'm glad to see the partnership with Getty is as healthy as ever), but the tune is a blatant rehash of 'In Christ Alone'.

The evening was however very enjoyable, and despite my criticisms I'm still very much a big fan!
Hope the rest of the tour went smoothly. :)
God bless.

Really thought concert was great at Chessington. Love the new album - 'Monument to Mercy' and disagree with Jimbo about 'O church Arise' -I love it and it's not like 'In Christ Alone' except for the fact that it's rythym and pace is similar. Not so sure about some of the new ways that the classic Townend songs are done in the album'The Apostle's Creed'as I love the richness of the chords used - some of which have been missed out for the desired effect.
However,it is growing on me slowly - how much we human's dislike change eh?

Brilliant at Wrexham last Friday! Thank you - it was real worship and evangelism for everyone. No flamboyance, distraction from or projection of personalities - you both just gave the Gospel in music. Favourites are 'For the child'(Kyrie) - can't stop playing that track since the concert! and....'Stand on the promises.' Really appreciate the stunning arrangements too. Every blessing for future gigs.

not chessington gig but WREXHAM gig!

As captain of 8th Halifax Girls Brigade we do quite a lot of singing and the girls were really pleased to sing your version of The Lords My Shepherd. This the very best version. PS Your Mum buys her wool at my shop, She is a super lady.
